Betrayal (2022)
(14:09) Betrayal is a mystery/thriller portrayed through different genres of film such as Sitcom, French New Wave and Sci-fi Horror. Because of this, the soundtrack needed an original track for each unique section. Research into soundtracks for each genre was carried out to create an authentic and short representation of each genre. While running between the set and my computer, I learned how to actively create music from being on set instead of requiring recorded and edited footage.
Mother Tree (2021)
(9:35) Mother Tree is a drama/fantasy centered around two friends that end up parting ways on a journey. This was my first attempt at orchestral music and creating soundtracks in general. I had to learn when to fill up space with music and when I should let the dialogue carry the scene. This was created as one big track which was sent to the editor who I worked closely with to obtain a satisfactory mix.
Painting of a Human Soul (2023)
(43:14) Painting of a Human Soul is a slice-of-life drama about a sick man that falls into the care of an attached nurse. This soundtrack had to be grounded due to the story’s content. The film’s aesthetic was conveyed to me through sketches and b-roll and I worked with the director to develop a cohesive sound. I opted for a largely acoustic soundtrack with MIDI drums which resulted in troubleshooting microphones and interfaces when recording guitar. As this was my first attempt at professionally recording guitar, I expanded my knowledge on digital audio production.
Into The Third Eye (2022)
(18:50) Into The Third Eye is a documentary short based on the impact of psychics in Asheville taken from a skeptical approach. This soundtrack required something that sounded mysterious, whimsical, and calm due to the nature of the content. I had to step out of my comfort zone and learn how to mesh acoustic and electronic sounds together in a way that felt authentic to the subject matter. As scenes were sent to me, I created tracks that synced with on screen events.
The Red Woman (2021)
(15:48) The Red Woman is a horror film centered around a shy woman who ends up being possessed by her friend’s sister. This soundtrack was within my comfort zone as it relied heavily on synth based sounds. I was asked to create something along the lines of “90’s sci-fi”. The soundtrack was sent out as one track which proved to be a short roadblock as the cut given to me received many revisions afterwards and I had to convert my workflow to accommodate last minute changes.
Pendergraph Machines Promo (2018)
(2:40) Serving as my introduction to the world of soundtrack composition, I was asked to create a track to go along with established footage to send out to potential customers.
